F1 to gain natural assistance in battle to tackle Japanese GP fire menace.

Following a flawlessly dry sweep of the three practice sessions and qualifying, wet weather is predicted to arrive at the Suzuka Circuit early on Sunday, ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.

There is an active region of showers to the west of the country that is expected to move over during the day.

It might be handy in F1, after trackside fires disrupted the last two practice hours and grid-setting session.

Sparks from the undersides of automobiles have caused the dry grass to ignite. The dampening of such locations should assist to prevent further disturbance. However, it is unclear whether the race will be disrupted by rain.

The grand prix begins at 14:00 local time in Japan, which is 06:00 in the United Kingdom and Ireland and 07:00 in most of mainland Europe.

On Sunday morning, the circuit is predicted to get five to ten mm of rain. By the afternoon, the nasty weather is expected to have dissipated.

However, showers are still possible, so it is unclear when and when further rainfall will come. Otherwise, a combination of clouds and sunlight is forecast.

The wind, which has been problematic this weekend, is not anticipated to be a concern on Sunday, but it will still blow lightly from the northeast to the northwest.
